Intent
Our curriculum is carefully constructed to ensure it is taught sequentially, is progressive and builds on prior learning.
Our values underpin our school curriculum and guide and drive our actions and our behaviours. We teach our children through the Colleton code what our expected learning behaviours are so that they can be ready to learn and deepen their understanding of the world they live in. Our carefully planned curriculum adopts a cross-curricular, enquiry-based approach which is ambitious and poses challenging questions to inspire our children to learn more and remember more.
Across the curriculum golden threads weave through our foundation subjects which enable children to make links and connections with what have they learnt previously. These threads help our children to acquire and retain the necessary knowledge and skills to function and thrive in their next steps of their education. Our curriculum aims to help them develop a sense of their place in the community and wider world so that they are equipped to deal with any challenges they may face in the future and understand the positive impact that they can have on their environment and through their interactions with others.
