At The Colleton, we adapt and plan for any individual or group in which any area of under-performance is evident. Research indicates that pupils from specific backgrounds often underachieve compared to their peers, so Government funding has been allocated to narrow the gap for all pupils. Pupils who meet the criteria are supported through additional resources to achieve maximum impact on their attainment and achievement – whether academic, social or emotional.
Our Impact Statement shows how we are spending the funding to ensure that all our pupils make progress and gaps in attainment close. Each eligible child has an individual tracker which outlines the support put in place to raise their attainment, depending on their needs. The impact of this support is evaluated regularly and next steps are identified.
All young people should have the opportunity to live healthy and active lives. Physical activity has numerous benefits for children and young people’s physical health, as well as their mental wellbeing (increasing self-esteem and emotional wellbeing and lowering anxiety and depression), and children who are physically active are happier, more resilient and more trusting of their peers. A positive experience of sport and physical activity at a young age can build a lifetime habit of participation.
At The Colleton, we use our PE and Sport Premium to increase regular participation in sports activities across the school, to help ensure that all pupils develop a healthy lifestyle. The way that we allocate these funds and the impact this has is shown in our PE Funding Grant Participation statement.
